Very interesting to see AIOs for shows or movies and Google not provide the AIO label... I wonder if we will see more AIOs without labeling.
Google's AI Overviews began appearing unlabeled on desktop search results on October 20, 2026, while the same results on mobile retained the "AI Overview" label. The inconsistency was first spotted by SEO consultant Glenn Gabe, who noted it specifically for movie and TV show queries. Google has not yet confirmed the cause.
Barry Schwartz of Search Engine Roundtable suspects a bug, pointing out that Google has shipped missing AI labels before. The timing may also explain a reported drop in AI Overview detection by Semrush's tracking tools, which would be counting only the labeled instances. Either way, AI-generated content was briefly indistinguishable from organic results for an unknown number of desktop users.
